Born in 1989 in Tbilisi, Georgia, Luka Tsetskhladze is a contemporary artist whose practice investigates form through processes of reduction, structure, and spatial clarity.
He received his early training at the Iakob Nikoladze School of Art, studying drawing, painting, and sculpture, and later earned a BA in Animation Filmmaking from Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University. He completed his MA in Printmaking at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. This multidisciplinary background informs a practice that moves fluidly between painting, sculpture, and object-based work.
Tsetskhladze’s artistic language has evolved over more than a decade through sustained experimentation and stylistic inquiry. His early works were marked by graphic intensity, expressive fragmentation, and dramatic composition. Over time, his practice shifted toward concision and restraint, gradually eliminating excess in favor of symmetry, balance, rhythm, and precision. Reduction functions not as limitation but as a method of clarification—allowing form, color, and material to assert themselves with autonomy.
Influenced by American art of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as Constructivist traditions, Neoplasticism, and Minimalism, Tsetskhladze’s work reflects an affinity for order and harmony. Industrial and non-traditional materials play a central role in his process, alongside careful planning through sketches, models, and spatial studies. Rather than relying on spontaneity alone, he approaches each work as a considered structure shaped by conceptual preparation and material testing.
Periods of seclusion and focused reflection are integral to his practice, providing the conditions for sustained inquiry. For Tsetskhladze, making art is an inner necessity—driven by continuous questioning, self-dialogue, and a belief in the transformative potential of artistic form. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at contemporary art fairs, institutional venues, and festivals across Europe, the Middle East, and Georgia.
